Personal Voter Information
California voters do not need to apply for a mail ballot for the General Election. Active registered voters will be sent a vote-by-mail ballot no later than 29 days before the election.

California has same-day voter registration, which means you can register to vote and vote on the same day, up to and including Election Day.

If you register to vote less than 15 days before an election, you will need to complete the Same-Day Voter Registration process and request your ballot in person at your county elections office or polling location.
